Roosevelt Island Tram

The bright red Roosevelt Island Tram opened in 1976 and is the only Swiss-made gondola in North America used for mass transit. Don and the Off Limits crew rode this Tram while filming a segment on Roosevelt Island.

Completed in 1909, the 140,000 sq. ft. Battery Maritime Building was built when ferries were still a vital means of transportation in New York City. Don and the crew hopped a ferry to Governors Island from this historic building.

Grand Central Terminal officially opened on Sunday, February 2, 1913. More than 150,000 people are said to have visited the new terminal on its opening day. Don and the crew took a Metro North train from here to Beacon Station, NY.

U Thant Island

Officially named Belmont Island, U-Thant is a small artificial island in NYC's East River that was created in the 1890s as a side effect of the construction of trolley tunnel. The tunnels were finished in 1907 and are still in use today.
