On the island of Oahu, Don uncovers how engineers were able to tunnel through the western face of a dormant volcano in order to construct a state-of-the-art highway tunnel system containing miles of service tunnels and a massive ventilation system.
Located on the shore of Kauai, this large vertical splash and eerie hissing noise is produced when the pounding surf comes in contact with a lava tube. Ancient Hawaiians believed it was the angry roar of a lizard goddess held captive by a fisherman.
