Science investigator Cara Santa Maria boldly descends into what many call the most dangerous place in America to explore the country’s only underground nuclear waste dump. Located in Loving, NM, New Mexico’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant houses tons of radioactive waste more than half a mile below earth’s surface in natural salt caverns. But while these extreme precautions are for low-level nuclear waste, many believe the government’s real plans are to sneak in high-level waste.
