Mobile trail maps without a network connection.

Why we like it -- You carry your phone with you anyway. Why not use it to avoid carrying around a trail map, too? The iTrailMap includes maps of more than 750 major ski resorts, globally. The maps are nothing more than what you would get at the mountain, but there’s great utility in scrolling through a map with your thumb (assuming you can get your fingers out of your gloves). And the pinch-and-zoom feature makes it easy to spot your preferred trails.

Improvements we'd like to see -- BlackBerry users have frequently complained about maps failing to load. As the only group that’s forced to pay for this app, it’s a caveat worth noting. The app also maddeningly displays ads across the middle of the screen at times, and users have complained about out-of-date maps at certain resorts.
