8: Knoxville, Tennessee

Voted most patriotic city by USA today, Knoxville has all the necessities for a perfect 4th of July celebration. With world-renowned barbeque, a host of local breweries and top-notch fireworks display along with all-day festivities including live music in World's Fair Park this little Tennessee jewel has all the ingredients needed for an all American celebration.

With one of America's most popular family vacation destinations around the corner, Flagstaff Arizona is the perfect place to celebrate freedom with the whole family. Enjoy the parade, amazing local food and outdoor adventures the city has to offer before seeing the sights at the Grand Canyon.

This tiny town in Texas is known for doing it big in honor of Independence Day. The all-day celebration's highlight is an airshow featuring skydiving, acrobatics and more. A carnival with rides, games and food vendors provides daytime fun, and the night wraps up with a spectacular fireworks show.

3: Bend, Oregon

It’s a dream come true for nature lovers. If hiking and epic views are your thing, Bend is the place to be on the 4th. Spend the day hiking on a volcano sightseeing tour, or take it easy on the ale trail. The Old Fashioned Celebration held in Drake Park is said to resemble something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, and it all ends with a big finale of fireworks shot from the top of Pilot Butte.

2: Boyne City, Michigan

The state known for its outstanding cherry pies (a traditional Independence Day treat) is home to Boyne City which offers one of the biggest and best celebrations around. Billed as "The Best 4th in the North," the party lasts for two whole days. It includes a rubber duck race, a special breakfast, multiple parades, and of course a spectacular fireworks show.

If you've never heard of Keystone, you've certainly heard of its main attraction: Mount Rushmore.
