Perhaps the most addictive smartphone game.

Why we like it -- Angry Birds has become a runaway bestseller for good reason: it is a spectacular time-waster. Launch flightless, ornery birds at barricades, to eliminate the pigs hiding within. The game is challenging without being frustrating, and the sound effects are fun, too. The app's developers are generous about adding new levels and twists, so the game never gets old.

Improvements we'd like to see -- A BlackBerry version would finally give this game the full smartphone audience it deserves. In the meantime, the Android app could use more polish. It's still great fun, but the graphics aren't as smooth as they are on the iPhone, and ads can sometimes get in the way of the game play.
