Every traveler needs a good backpack, but not all packs are created equal. As a curvy 5'2" female, sometimes it's difficult for me to find a good fit. And support is crucial since an ill-fitting pack can cause damage to your lower back, shoulders and neck. That's no way to travel. If you're looking for a new travel backpack, check out these bags that come highly rated by female travelers around the world.

Best Anti-Theft Backpack

Thieves don’t need to steal your bag. They just need to stand close enough to you to scan what’s inside. Using RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology, hackers can lift data from your passport, credit card and more. Invest in an RFID-blocking bag, such as Pacsafe’s Citysafe bag, to keep your personal info safe while traveling abroad.

Best Backpack for Photographers

Camera bags don’t exactly have a reputation as fashionable. But ONA is changing that. Their Hudson backpack features an Instagrammable design with canvas, cognac leather and brass hardware. And, on the inside, padded pockets can accommodate a 13-inch laptop, DSLR camera and three professional lenses.

Best Carry-On Backpack

The Rebecca Minkoff Julian Backpack is great for a long-haul, overnight flight. It has tons of pockets to keep your essentials organized, plus it's small enough to stow under the seat in front of you. And, once you land, you’ve got a fashion-forward bag that can double as a purse.

Best Daypack

The best hiking backpack is one you forget you’re wearing. Designed specifically for women, the Osprey Sirrus 24 comes with adjustable torso straps, a seamless hip belt and incredible ventilation in the back. Though the 24 is the smallest pack in the Sirrus series, it can handle up to 25 pounds.

Best Backpacking Backpack

If lugging all of your belongings across Europe for three months sounds like it will break your back, check out the Osprey Xena 70. The backpack, designed specifically for women, can handle up to 70 pounds and features interchangeable harness and hip belts that are custom moldable. But the best feature might be what’s hidden inside. The top lid is removable and, when it comes off, reveals a tiny daypack for short hikes and excursions.

Best Waterproof Backpack

Dry bags are a godsend for a day out on the water, but the packs aren’t really practical unless you’re throwing them in a boat. Adventure company SealLine is changing that with a series of dry bags that feature a backpack design. The small Urban Backpack is a great all-around size, whether you're kayaking, snowshoeing or walking around Seattle in the rain.

Best Budget Backpack

If you’re looking for a bag that does a little bit of everything, the Eddie Bauer Stowaway Packable Daypack is the best bang for your buck at $30. The incredibly lightweight design is great for a trip with both outdoor adventure and city time. While not waterproof, it is moisture resistant and the entire bag folds into the front pocket for easy storage.
