Why we like it -- We don’t like it. We love it. MyWeather launched in May and immediately staked a claim for the best weather app. Other apps feature forecasts for your town, but MyWeather’s forecasts are for your precise location in the town – and you can add new locations quickly while you’re on vacation. The app’s forecasts come in a simple, easy-to-read format that’s still comprehensive. The best part: where other apps will upcharge you for severe weather alerts, MyWeather sends alerts to the phone (and your desktop computer) as a storm approaches.

Improvements we’d like to see -- All this functionality costs something to produce, so this free app does include ads. We’d like to see a $1 version that’s ad-free, and we’d very much like to see better international coverage. The app has great international coverage, but there's no way to store forecast information within the app. This would be especially helpful for users who could open the app while in a free WiFi hotspot. That way, they could avoid sky-high international roaming fees if they want to check the forecast while they're out and about. One final bit of bad news for some: MyWeather doesn’t yet have a BlackBerry version.
