In 1832, long before the idea of a national park existed, Congress voted to protect the famed healing waters of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Today, Hot Springs National Park is in-and-around the town of Hot Springs and protects 47 natural springs that emerge from a fault on the side of Hot Springs Mountain, right in the city’s downtown area. Couples can enjoy the springs firsthand and experience the same thermal mineral soak people have enjoyed since 1912 at the Buckstaff Bathhouse on historic Bathhouse Row.
Terranea is technically in LA county, but the oceanfront resort feels worlds away from LA. Located on a sunkissed peninsula in Ranchos Palos Verdes, the resort features spa suites overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Try a custom treatment with honey from Terranea’s own beehives. Foodies will love the resorts farm-to-table programs. Visit the Sea Salt Conservatory for a tasty sea salt workshop and salt pairing. Led by Executive Chef Bernard Ibarra, the class shows how the resort harvests salt from the Pacific Ocean to use throughout the resort.
