Meet Amy and Steve

Meet Amy Allan and Steve DiSchiavi, the Dead Files paranormal team.

The Dead Files team approaches every case from its 2 specific areas of expertise: Steve DiSchiavi is a homicide detective, and Amy Allan is a physical medium. They are a paranormal team like no other, combining their unique, eclectic and often-conflicting skills to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across America.

Paranormal researcher and physical medium Amy Allan works with retired homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi on The Dead Files to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across America.

In this series, Amy uses her abilities to communicate with the dead, often assuming their roles and reliving their deaths, while Steve uses his years of detective experience to search for physical evidence. When the 2 investigators come together to share their findings, the parallels between their discoveries are powerfully revealed.

Amy's interest in paranormal phenomena began at age 4, when she says she was tormented by “shadow people” in her Arvada, CO, home. Since then, she's been on a journey to unravel the mysteries of the unexplained.

Amy’s abilities have been studied and tested by leading para-psychologists. She has worked with private investigators and police agencies and has conducted more than 350 investigations in both private homes and businesses.

Amy studied psychology at the University of Arizona and was mentored by world-renowned para-psychologist William Roll.

She resides in Denver.

Steve DiSchiavi

Devoting more than 21 years of active service to the New York City Police Department, retired homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi is now lending his expertise to Travel Channel’s popular series The Dead Files. Based on the powerful premise that every property has a story to be told, Steve and medium Amy Allan combine their unique skills to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across America.

On The Dead Files, DiSchiavi relies on his police training and experience to explore the facts behind each property — questioning the owners about the building’s history, interviewing local historians and experts, and tracking down any previous owners of the property in question. When the 2 investigators come together at the end to share their findings to each homeowner, the parallels between their discoveries are powerfully revealed in each shocking conclusion.

Following his retirement from the NYPD, Steve worked as a senior investigator for Merrill Lynch’s fraud department, as well as a special investigator for the city of New York. He is a licensed New York state private investigator and a licensed armed guard. He also owns his own private-investigation company, Paragon Investigations.

Steve was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.
