On the one hand, you can’t really blame the teenage girl.

The approximately 3-inch replica gun emblazoned on Vanessa Gibbs’ purse was anything but a threat. In fact, she had flown with it several times before without incident.

Then again, it’s hard to find fault with security officials who see the outline of a gun that looked like it might be inside the purse.

Maybe we should just blame the airline …

As Florida’s First Coast News reported: “By the time security wrapped up the inspection, the pregnant teen missed her flight (to Jacksonville), and Southwest Airlines sent her to Orlando instead.”

After several “terrifying” hours of not knowing where she was, Vanessa’s mom was able to meet her in Orlando and take her home.
