Travel Specialty: Baby Boomers’ Bucket List

Saundra Dunson-Franks is a retired actress who spent many years touring the country playing Harriet Tubman. She’s 66 years old and wants to inspire her generation to get out there and travel!

What excites you the most about travel?

I want to explore the world and experience this awesome creation, state by state, country by country, street by street. I want to be an active part of the ebb and flow of humanity. Life excited me; traveling through it delights me. I’m old and mature, but I’m not dead. I want to breathe life and adventure and a renewed sense of being into our baby boomers — and myself as well.

What do you like the least about travel?

Airport delays and missing luggage.

What was your favorite travel adventure?

Traveling all over New York, revisiting the Harriet Tubman historical sites and her grave site in Fort Hill Cemetery. History came alive for me!

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to make day trips to different places with my son and daughter — zip-lining, bungee jumping and trying new things. I love cooking!

What is your guilty pleasure?

I love to eat pork chitterlings!!

Why do you want to be the next Travel Channel Star?

My primary motivation is to actively involve myself in the field of entertainment on a platform such as Travel Channel and bring along an audience of baby boomers — seniors who still have a lust for life! I want fresh new experiences. Revisiting my bucket list will give me a new song to sing while making others sing with me, in happiness, smiles and fun!
