When I think about my trip to the Grand Canyon, I remember the great view. But what made the biggest impression on me was the stargazing. For the first time, I was able to see the Milky Way as milky and opaque. I've never seen so many stars in my life.

Light pollution threatens our view of the stars, but there are many places around the world, including several of our National Parks, that offer dark, quiet spots to look up in awe at the celestial show above.
